Collections for the needs of the Church

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

The faithful have a duty to provide for the material needs of the Church, according to their abilities. As members of the Catholic Church, we are called to be a community of faith, love, and service. Our Church plays a vital role in our spiritual lives, offering opportunities for worship, education, and fellowship.

To continue offering these valuable programs and services, we rely on the generous support of our parishioners. Your donations help to support our priests, fund our ministries and maintain our church buildings.

Regarding weekly collections:

1. The First Collection supports our Priests. Most Parishes do not receive enough to fully support their priests financially. Therefore, the first collections from across the Diocese are aggregated, and the Diocese must raise additional funds to pay the priests’ minimum stipend each fortnight.
2. The Second Collection supports the operations of the parish. These donations cover costs such as administration, parish ministries, building maintenance (including electricity and insurance), and a small contribution (5%) towards the education of priests.

How much should I give to each collection?

“Each should give as much as you have decided on your own initiative, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians 9:7)

How can I give?

Set up your own regular payment through mobile or Internet banking using the account details (see PDF attached)
Visit the Parish Website or ask your Parish Priest for a Direct Debit Request form (regular payments can be taken from your credit card or account).
Visit the Church and use the EFTPOS terminals (if available) at the entrance.
Place Money on the First and Second collection plates at Sunday Masses.

Whichever method you choose, please consider the importance of regularly supporting both our priests and parish. Your generosity enables us to fulfill our mission of sharing the joy of the Gospel and serving our community.
