The Catholic Diocese prepares to host the major relic as part of a landmark national tour.
Local parishioners and visitors across the region will soon have a rare opportunity for prayer and reflection as the Major Pilgrim Relic of St Carlo Acutis arrives in the Diocese this month.
The relic will begin its local journey in Wagga Wagga on Monday, 17 August, before concluding in Lavington on Monday, 24 August 2026.
A Global Mission Reaches Australia
The local visit forms part of a major national tour running from 25 June to 25 October, making Australia the 25th nation to host the relic. The mission previously visited New Zealand earlier this winter.
The relic itself is a piece of St Carlo’s pericardium, the membrane surrounding the heart, serving as a poignant symbol of a heart completely consecrated to God.
Who was St Carlo Acutis?
Known for his extraordinary devotion to the Eucharist from an early age, Carlo Acutis made his First Holy Communion at just seven years old, handing his parents a note that read:
“Always to be united to Jesus. This is my programme of life.”
Carlo used his technological talents to research, compile, and design the Vatican International Exhibition of The Eucharistic Miracles of the World, documenting Eucharistic miracles across centuries. He passed away from leukemia in 2006 at age 15, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire youth and families globally.
